ADÉLA made her late night TV debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night, performing her hit song “Nicole Kidman” along with the chorus of “Ain’t in LA.”
As you’d expect from the breakout Slovakian pop star, she thoroughly dialed up the spectacle for her Fallon performance. With several dancers in tow, ADÉLA’s choreography split the difference between ballet movements (as a reference to her debut album’s title, PRIMA) and standard pop fare, with some playful nods to the Nicole Kidman classic Moulin Rouge! via dress lifts and a cabaret-style set. Compared to some other ADÉLA tracks, “Nicole Kidman” doesn’t demand a whole lot vocally, so instead she made the performance a dance-heavy demonstration — especially as the song ramped up to a speeding climax.
“I can’t believe I’m on Jimmy Fallon!” ADÉLA said after “Nicole Kidman” concluded and “Ain’t in LA” began playing. “This song changed my life.” She proceeded to perform just the chorus of “Ain’t in LA.” Watch ADÉLA’s Fallon performance below.
ADÉLA also sat for an interview with Fallon ahead of her performance on Thursday. Throughout her chat, she discussed her upbringing in Slovakia, learning English via Hannah Montana and The Tonight Show, being inspired by Nicole Kidman and getting her approval of the song, and her signature dance, which she calls the “Swaggerina.” She ends the interview teaching Fallon how to do the dance; watch it below.
