Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja has co-curated and contributed three new original songs to the soundtrack for the Gaza documentary Life Support.
The soundtrack is out today; it features 13 tracks co-curated by Del Naja (under his 3D alias) and the film’s producers, with Del Naja contributing brand new compositions “Explosives of the Future,” “Perfect Victims,” and “House of Healing” along with a remix of Kneecap’s “Palestine” (feat. Fwazi). The soundtrack also includes compositions from Habib Shehada Hanna and a collaborative track from The Five Techniques that features Paul Weller, David Holmes, and Róisín El Cherif.
Other collaborators include Yasmine Hamda, 47Soul, Monkyman, Aar Maanta (Hassan Nour), and Massar Egbari. Stream the soundtrack below; a vinyl version is available for purchase as well, with all proceeds going to the Health Workers 4 Palestine solidarity fund.
As for the film itself, Life Support, directed by Daniele Rugo and narrated by Andor star Denise Gough, follows a team of medics operating in Gaza for two years as they witness first-hand the horrors and realities of a systemic genocide. The logline reads: “Covering the entire two years of the genocide, their first-hand accounts and visceral footage offer a rare and vital chronicle of the daily struggles of healthcare workers as they navigate bombed-out hospitals, dwindling supplies, starvation and the overwhelming influx of casualties — predominantly women and children.” The film is currently streaming on demand.
“Given the magnitude and rawness of Life Support, it was humbling to be asked to compose work that could in some way enhance a second-hand experience of living the devastating realities for volunteer medics and Gazan civilians,” Del Naja said in a statement. “We hope the range of compositions go some way to travelling the emotional quagmire – but also elevating the astounding human spirit and resilience displayed by the subjects of this film.”
Del Naja was recently arrested in Liverpool for protesting outside the UK Labour Party’s convention in support of Palestine; he was arrested for a similar protest in support of Palestine back in April. He’ll be reuniting with Grant Marshall (A.K.A. Daddy G) for another Massive Attack show at Primavera Sound 2027 after their 2026 set was cancelled due to inclement weather.
