The Offspring‘s drummer Brandon Pertzborn plays “Speed Demon” by Michael Jackson in the latest edition of Drumeo’s “For the First Time” series.
The series challenges drummers to come up with a drum arrangement on the spot for a song they never heard while listening to the tune minus the original drum track.

Pertzborn delivers a tight and professional drum part, leaning toward the funky elements of Michael Jackson’s sound. His choice of syncopated parts and decisive snare hits would easily deceive someone not familiar with the original into thinking they were hearing the original studio recording, proving why Pertzborn has become such an in-demand player, having worked with Black Flag, Suicidal Tendencies, Marilyn Manson, and more.
The Offspring are set to play the Arizona State Fair in Phoenix this Friday, October 16th, and Mission Bayfest in San Diego this Sunday, October 18th. Get tickets here.
