Guitarricadelafuente is already working on the follow-up to 2025’s Spanish Leather, and his Oscar-buzzed acting debut in La Bola Negra has helped him discover a new approach to songwriting.

In a new interview with GQ, the Spanish singer revealed that he began writing material for his third studio album after wrapping the film and has continued working on new music in Los Angeles.

“This experience and what my life has turned into in the last two years has made me find a new poetic way and a new way of writing songs,” he said.

The 29-year-old musician explained that his experience on the set of La Bola Negra, combined with two years of touring and an increasingly hectic schedule, has changed how he approaches his creative process. Where he once believed he needed solitude to find inspiration, he’s now learning to write amid the constant activity of his new life.

Directed by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, better known as Los Javis, La Bola Negra marks Guitarricadelafuente’s acting debut alongside Penélope Cruz and Glenn Close. Inspired by an unfinished play by Federico García Lorca, the film explores queer desire and repression across different periods of Spanish history.

Guitarricadelafuente also contributed the original song “La Nieve” to the film, which has generated awards-season attention.

The singer has yet to announce a title or release date for his third album, which would follow Spanish Leather and his 2022 debut, La Cantera.

And while new music remains a priority, his first experience in front of the camera may not be his last. “I just wish to act sometime again because I found something very addictive about it,” he told GQ.
