Jennifer Lopez is preparing to release new music, and she’s making sure her LGBTQ+ fans have something to look forward to. The singer has revealed that several songs are on the way, including a couple she describes as “super fun and cunty for my gays.”
Speaking to Variety, Lopez discussed her return to the recording studio after her 18-year-old twins, Max and Emme, left for college. The transition has been emotional, she explained, but it has also given her the time and space to write some of what she considers her best material.
“I’ve written some of the best songs that I’ve ever written, and I’m really excited,” she said, describing the project as a particularly joyful chapter in her career.
The first taste of this new material will be “Proof of Love,” a dance track that explores the complicated emotions that come with missing someone you love. Lopez explained that she wanted to turn feelings of grief and absence into something worth celebrating.
“It’s this happy dance song,” she told Variety, explaining that the pain of someone’s absence can itself be evidence of love.
“Proof of Love” will appear as a bonus track on the first-ever vinyl edition of her 2011 album Love?, which featured the Pitbull-assisted hit “On the Floor.” Preorders for three vinyl variants opened on October 28th on JLo’s website.
And Lopez apparently has something considerably more playful planned for what comes next. She told Variety that “Proof of Love” will be followed by “a couple of others that are super fun and cunty for my gays,” using a term popular in queer culture to describe an especially bold, glamorous, and confident attitude.
