Actor and director Timothy Busfield is no longer under indictment for criminal sexual contact with a child, the Associated Press reports. The charges were tossed by a ruling from New Mexico judge Joseph Montano, on the basis of prosecutorial misconduct.
The allegations came from the parents of twins who appeared on the TV serires The Cleaning Lady, on which Busfield worked as a director. Following the boys’ firing from the show, the parents accused Busfield of inappropriate touching on the Fox drama’s set.
Since the allegations emerged in January 2026, Busfield (known for roles on The West Wing and thirtysomething) has proclaimed his innocence, with his lawyers stating that the children had been coached by their parents to make certain claims.
According to the AP, New Mexico prosecutors are “reviewing the decision,” and have not yet decided “whether to pursue another indictment.”
